Attorney Ciraulo is a criminal defense attorney with a practice area devoted entirely and exclusively to the negotiation, litigation, and ultimate resolution of criminal offenses.
EDUCATION
Attorney Ciraulo began his education at Boston College High School in Dorchester. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Boston University and a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk Law School.
FORMER ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY
After obtaining admission to the Massachusetts Bar, Attorney Ciraulo became an Assistant District Attorney in the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office where he prosecuted cases in all of the District Courts including Barnstable District Court, Falmouth District Court, Orleans District Court, Edgartown District Court, and Nantucket District Court. In addition, the District Attorney appointed Attorney Ciraulo Chief District Court Prosecutor in Falmouth District Court. Attorney Ciraulo also handled grand jury investigations, indictment presentations, and prosecuted cases in Barnstable Superior Court, Dukes County Superior Court in Edgartown, and Nantucket Superior Court. Attorney Ciraulo also acted as a "Special Assistant District Attorney" in various other counties across the Commonwealth.
During his time as a prosecutor, Attorney Ciraulo handled thousands of cases at both the pre-trial and trial level. These cases included assaultive type offenses, motor vehicle offenses, narcotics related offenses, and larceny type offenses. In particular, Attorney Ciraulo prosecuted charges of rape, indecent assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence of alcohol, trafficking of cocaine and heroin, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin, simple possession of narcotics, armed robbery, larceny from a person, and breaking and entering.
CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY
While still practicing as an Assistant District Attorney, Attorney Ciraulo met and tried multiple cases against Attorney Daniel W. O'Malley, a former Associate Justice of the District Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (1998 through 2004).
Upon leaving the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office, Attorney Ciraulo was offered and thereafter accepted a position as an associate within the Law Office of Daniel W. O'Malley, P.C. In this capacity, Attorney O'Malley and Attorney Ciraulo have worked in tandem defending clients charged with all types of criminal offenses including Murder, Armed Assault with the Intent to Murder, Armed and Unarmed Robbery, Rape, Trafficking in Narcotics and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Narcotics, Assaultive Type Offenses, Larceny Type Offenses, and Motor Vehicles Offenses including Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol (OUI / DUI / DWI) and Motor Vehicle Homicide.
In addition to his position within the Law Office of Daniel W. O'Malley, P.C., Attorney Ciraulo was offered an “Of Counsel” position with the Coughlin Law Group, LLC, a Boston law firm specializing in criminal defense. Within the Coughlin Law Group, Attorney Ciraulo takes on the role of chief trial counsel in both District and Superior Courts all over the Commonwealth.
With the knowledge, skills, and experience obtained as a prosecutor, as a colleague of Attorney O'Malley, and as Chief Trial Counsel with the Coughlin Law Group, Attorney Ciraulo is uniquely positioned to take on the legal defense of those charged with crimes in the Commonwealth.
TRIAL EXPERIENCE - 500+ TRIALS
As both an Assistant District Attorney and a Criminal Defense Attorney, Attorney Ciraulo has been lead counsel in more than five hundred (500+) trials and countless evidentiary hearings including motions to suppress, probation violation hearings, probable cause hearings, and clerk magistrate hearings.
